Hi Anna,

I think what you are experiencing is much more common than you may realize. For the past year I have talked with literally hundreds of individuals like you (and me) who are rethinking our place in live and wondering what could have been.

However, I now prefer to look at what can be. Sure, somethings could have been different, maybe better. But I'm had a multifaceted life with many great adventures and I'm now looking forward to writing the next chapter.

Hello
I have reached a certain point in my life (just over a year to go until I am 50) when I suddenly have the urge to just up and walk away from all things normal to me.

I dont own my own place, I have a job which I am bored with now and my relationship has gone a bit sour on me (I have never married). This might sound sad, but the only real thing that is keeping me from going is my two cats.

I love writing and I have a feeling about writing a book, but its so noisey in this part of the world.

I need some peace and quiet and to get away from the rat race.

Am I alone in thinking thoughts of missed opportunities especially as a woman - or is it the start of the menopause and a combination of hormone imbalance?

I have a blog and website on midlife career change, more like straightforward career consulting. It's a little different because I cover more on relocation and academics than some.

Great ideas here. I will be sure to check out some blogs you mentioned and eventually refer to yours in *my* blog!

Hey Kevin, I would be very interesting in more reading on midlife and career changes! Please send me the titles that you would recommend or list them in your comments (other readers may also be interested).

BTW, I really like reading your blog. Since I stopped riding 20 years ago when my first son was born, I've only day-dreamed of getting away and seeing the country. It's fun to read your adventures, and the photos are great!

What a wonderful find! Thanks for the kind mention of www.midliferider.com. I've been thinking about the subject of midlife and boomers for several years now. The blog just sort of happened.

Your site is lots of fun. I'm bookmarking it and plan to come back! I've got more books for your list if you're interested!

Cheers
